Start the Night Before
If you’re planning on starting your Thanksgiving preparation on the day of, you’re going to have a stressful time scrambling to get everything done. We recommend starting the night before. Get started with your food preparation by chopping and dicing up your vegetables, marinating any meats, and making the gravy. You can place the vegetables in easily accessible containers and freeze the gravy. This way, you save time on the day of, leaving you more time for relaxing or other food preparation.
Make it a Potluck
Save yourself some stress and money by making your Thanksgiving meal a potluck. Not only will you money, you’ll also add some diversity to your meal. Keep a Google Sheet of the dishes that your friends will be bringing so that people don’t double up on dishes (unless you deem it necessary). Encourage your guests to bring some dishes that they enjoy, or dishes that are unique to their culture.
Set a Budget
When planning a meal for a large group of people, you have to know your limits. Setting a budget can help you take into consideration the price of the items you need to purchase. You may feel like you need to go overboard in accommodating your guests by purchasing more food than is necessary. Setting a budget can help you avoid all of that.
