Enjoy a Day of Swimming

Young people at the Swimming Pool
Escape the Malden, MA summer heat by jumping into our apartment community pool! If you’re looking to spend a day at the pool, check out the tips that we’ve got for you in this week’s Strata Blog. We’ve compiled a short list of ways you can more thoroughly enjoy your time at the pool without worry.

Take Care of your Skin

The sun is out and you’re going to be spending a few hours in the pool, so it’s important to take care of your skin by applying sunscreen! Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays, helps prevent sunburn, and lowers your risk of getting skin cancer! Take the time before you head down to the pool to apply some sunscreen and remember to reapply after you’ve spent some time in the pool (the contact with water will cause the previously applied sunscreen to wash off). Another way to take care of your skin is by hydrating! Ensure that your body doesn’t become dehydrated by drinking plenty of water and fluids! Your body sweats, even in the pool, so don’t forget to hydrate!

Safety First

If you’re at the pool with children, teach them to be safe. Teach them that injuries can happen if they’re not careful. Tell them to avoid running around the pool, to be careful around the filters, and to be mindful of others while they play. Adults also need to consider safety first. Remember to always observe pool etiquette and be mindful of others while you play.

Don’t Swim Alone

Accidents happen. Even if you’re an experienced swimmer, they can happen to you. Taking a friend reduces the risk of injury or drowning. Not only can they help you in case of an emergency, they’re also around for you to have fun with. If you’re at the pool with children, you should always be present and stay aware of where they are at all times, as well as encourage them to follow swimming safety rules.
